KISS FM 102.5 Interviews Lolita Moore, The Gospel Recording Artist!
1- Can you please tell us how did you start your music career?
I started in music at the very young age of about 3–4 years. My initial introduction was watching Tina Turner show. I began imitating Mrs. Turner. I eventually progressed to lead singer of a small church choir, where I received raving reviews. I discovered my love for writing songs around seven years of age. After school, music was my peace and comfort, I would sit in my room and listen to music all day. I would mimic different popular R&B groups and their music. And the words would flow from my lips. I wrote and stored many of my songs. I’ve always been a writer. It’s something that just seemed to come naturally for me. I would write poems and songs and put them away for future use. As I continued in my growth and development through both grammar school and high school, I became increasingly recognized for my vocal ability. I was frequently asked to participate in school functions, festivals, choirs, community, and political events; through-out the Oakland Bay Area. Singing is my passion. And it has opened many doors for me. But I guess I can say that I started in my music career, with a strong, innate love for beautiful chords, melodies, with beautifully arranged compositions. I remember the very first song that I heard and fell in love with was “A Cup Full of Sugar”. I have been in love with music ever-since.
2- What are your achievements so far and main targets please?
My performances often lead to more performance opportunities. My musical talents garnered the attention of broadcasting executives, who placed me on their TV show/s. I performed in many school competitions and performed at USO shows. I often received many awards, a singing scholarship and I was entered into the Miss California Beauty Pageant, as Miss Oakland. I have received many awards as a singer/performer. I have recorded three albums. And I have recently been named the Best Gospel Female Artist for the Sounds of Soul Gospel Music Awards; as well as being nominated as Best Gospel Female Artist for the Spotlight Awards. I have performed on many stages, supporting top-tier gospel artists like Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Norman Hutchins, The Pace Sisters, Donald Lawrence, Amar Khalil of Tony, Toni, Tone and more. I am aiming to be a stand-alone artist, with a signature sound and brand that is uniquely my own. As well, I want my music to be impactful and memorable to the world.
3- What are your near future plans and projects including your new upcoming release?
I plan to write and produce more great music. I want to keep the music machine running for as long as I can. I simply love music, especially recording. As for my upcoming release, I am excited about sharing my gift of song to the world; to ultimately make a significant impact with my message of love and transition to one’s higher. So, I will continue to write, sing and promote current release and new music.
4- Are you opened to work on multiple music genres or just one?
I love music. And while I am genre diverse. My passion is rooted the Gospel . So, I am open to working with Christian, Contemporary/traditional Gospel, Positive, uplifting, empowerment, World/Universal music; simply music that touches everyone. I would really like to have one of my songs scored for soundtrack of a movie or TV series.
5- What do you like to tell to your supporters out there now?
I would first give them a great big thank you for being a fan. And then I would ask them to stay tuned in to Lolita’s Music because there is more to come. As I continue to live, learn and grow, I get better and better. So the best is yet to come.
